We provided product design, branding, and creative direction for a steel furniture brand developed in collaboration with Settsu Kinzoku Kogyo, a metalworking company in Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture.
With the goal of "creating a world-class brand from a local factory," we successfully cut the complex intersections that occur when combining irregularly shaped pipes using the company's 3D pipe laser technology and advanced design capabilities, then beautifully welded the pipes together. Unlike round or square pipes, irregularly shaped pipes have a directional strength. It is strong in the elongated section and weak in the shortened section, and there are sections that give the appearance of thick and thin walls that seem to disappear. After discussing with the designers and developers on the best orientation for each direction, the result is a series of furniture that is beautiful from all angles while possessing high strength. The height of the reinforcing beams of the sawhorses (trestles) was changed to save space when not in use, and up to 10 units can be nested. The table has a structure that can be knocked down, and beautiful legs and tactile tops were produced. The coat hangers are now self-supporting and usable by combining three identical pieces of steel.
The brand logo KOSEN has the meanings "crossing lines" or "rays of light" in Japanese. The O represents the appearance of a cut deformed pipe, which is also the symbol of the brand.

大阪府東大阪市にて金属加工業を営む摂津金属工業所と共同開発したスチールファニチャーブランドのプロダクトデザインとブランディング、クリエイティブディレクションを行いました。
「町工場から世界に通用するブランドの創出」を目標に掲げ、同社が持つ3Dパイプレーザー技術と、高い設計力により異形パイプ同士を組み合わせた際に出る複雑な交線をカットし、美しく溶接で組み上げることに成功しました。異形パイプは丸パイプや正方形のパイプと異なり強度に方向性が存在します。長い方向には強く、短い方向には弱く、見た目も肉厚感を感じさせる方向と、存在感が消えるかのような薄い方向が存在します。それぞれに適した向きを設計開発者交えてディスカッションし、360度どこから見ても美しく、同時に高い強度のある家具のシリーズとなりました。
ソーホース(架台)は、非使用時の省スペース化を図るために補強の梁の高さを変え、最大10台までネスティングが可能になりました。テーブルはノックダウンできる構造であり、美しい脚部と手触りのいい天板を制作。コートハンガーは同一の鋼材が3本組み合わさることで自立し、使用できるものになりました。
ブランドロゴは交線、光線の意味からKOSEN(読み：こうせん)とし、Oは同ブランドの象徴でもある異形パイプがカットされた様を表現しています。
